Red Necked Phalarope Framed Monotype

USD280.00

“Red Necked Phalarope”

15” x 12”

Monotype on Reeves BFK paper.

This print is part of a series of 12 Monotypes currently on display at Porcupine Grill in Salt Lake City.
Each piece features the portrait of a creature currently inhabiting the areas around my home in the Rose Park neighborhood of Salt Lake, or features a bird that relies on the Great Salt Lake ecosystem to survive. The survival and preservation of the Great Salt Lake is pivotal to many species beyond what is portrayed here.

Monotypes are a process of printmaking that involves coating a flat printable surface, in this case plexiglass, with ink. The ink is then drawn into, wiped away, and otherwise given texture, light, and shadow to create an image. The plate is run through a press with a soft cotton-rag paper to print the ink onto the paper. Each print is framed in a 1"x1" flat black wooden frame with a floating mount and UV protective glass.

These pieces will be on display through the beginning of June. Purchased pieces can be picked up or shipped at that time.
